The hollow stone is a rounded pebble measuring approximately one cubic meter with an artificial oval hollow. Whether the cross in question actually dates from 1642 cannot be verified. The inscription mentioned is missing today, and written sources are unavailable. In 1499, the "Rechgärtl" was already mentioned as a field name. Its location is curious, as it stands in a shallow, almost level hollow near the Kulmriegel. At that time, numerous finds confirm that a Roman road, the so-called Hochstraße, ran through here. Just a few hundred meters from the Rehgartl Cross, 21 Roman silver denarii were found. A short, challenging via ferrata that you can do again and again. The climbing tree at the beginning has no rope safety. The rope only starts at the top. The via ferrata is also easily accessible by public transport via the Gleißenfeld train station. If you descend to Seebenstein you will pass the castle and can get back on the train there.
