1471年に完成したナヴィリオ・マルテサーナは、当時の巨大な水力工学の産物でした。両岸では物や人を運ぶために使用され、この重要な水路に沿って船を引く馬が通る道がありました。この水路は、村々を大都市ミラノと結んでいました。現在、ゴムタイヤの交通手段が普及した後、水路の輸送手段としての利用は廃れ、その跡地は美しいサイクリングロードに変わりました。この道沿いに、マルテサーナのサイクリングロードが36キロメートルにわたって整備されており、専用の路盤は保護され、自動車の交通はほとんどありません。

A large neoclassical building, basilica-like in shape, with side chapels, dominated by a massive octagonal lantern tower and a large octagonal lantern. The façade, raised above the churchyard, features a large portico that extends beyond both sides of the church. It consists of a large central pronaos with an entablature supported by four large Corinthian columns in Baveno travertine. Short side porticoes with two pier-supported arches connect it to the large niche of the Serbelloni tomb and the arch in front of the entrance to the Oratory of the Holy Trinity.
