11月 15, 2025, Monte Gottero Summit
The small sacred monument we encounter on Monte Gottero is perhaps the perfect place for a brief moment of reflection. A few years ago, Christiane Völkel commented on the wonderfully fitting sentence by the Italian poet Francesco Petrarch (who lived in the 14th century), "Everywhere one has heaven above oneself," as follows: "What is the use of prayer? This question moves me (...) I have found for myself the answer and the certainty that when I pray I am with the Lord, or rather, that when I pray he is often noticeably closer to me than usual. Thus, I retain the possibility of pouring out my heart to him (...) This intimacy with him makes me believe in him."

11月 30, 2022, Passo di Cento Croci (1,055 m)
I arrived at Passo Cento Croci from Passo della Cappelletta (coming from Borgo Val Di Taro), on a paved road, but cyclist-proof (zero cars encountered), which winds at high altitude between pastures and conifers, with an enchanting scenery

Once you get to Cento Croci it would be a shame not to get to the Cappelletta and admire the splendid bucolic landscapes that can be admired even in autumn. Wind turbines are awful but majestic.

From the Foce dei Tre Confini it is exactly 223 meters in altitude that you will push, carry and hardly ride your bike. The view from the summit at 1,639 meters is fantastic and the descent that follows to the Passo della Cappelletta (1,086 meters) is a highlight for every mountain biker.

The Cross on the top of Monte Gottero was placed by the inhabitants of Montegroppo (a village on the slopes of the mountain on the Emilian side) in 1933. In 2012 it was restored and straightened by the inhabitants of Montegroppo. From the top of Monte Gottero the view sweeps 360 degrees, from the Tuscan-Emilian ridge to the Apuan Alps, on the Tuscan coast from Piombino to the Gulf of La Spezia, on the Tuscan archipelago and the tip of Corsica, on the Ligurian Riviera up to the border with France, from the Gino Maritime Alps to the Alps on the border between Valle D'Aosta, Piedmont and Lombardy.

The Passo della Cappelletta is a beautiful, extremely lonely pass. Nevertheless, a very good road runs up here. The reason for this is the large wind turbines that are used to generate electricity. The conclusion that it is often quite windy here is correct. The pass is a real ascent from the east. Initially steep, then very pleasant to drive in a great landscape. A recently asphalted ridge road comes from the northwest, which branches off just below the Passo di Cento Croci. This offers great views towards the Varatal. Ideally, the pass is therefore driven from east to west. However, since the road is very good, the descent is not a problem.

Crossroads for various very beautiful routes. From Bedonia via Pontestrambo you can go up to the Passo del Chiodo, or proceed straight towards Santa Maria del Taro and the Passo del Bocco, Ponteceno and the Passo del Tomarlo or you can still go up to the Passo della Colla and then go to Val Ceno via Bardi. ..

The town of Bedonia rises at the foot of Monte Pelpi (1485 m asl) and is crossed by the Pelpirana stream, in the area just before its confluence with the main river, the Taro which gives its name to the entire valley of which Bedonia is part . Of particular interest is the episcopal seminary located on the San Marco hill (http://www.seminariobedonia.it/)

6月 15, 2018, Passo di Cento Croci (1,055 m)
Beautiful step that starts from Varese Ligure and in 12 km of ascent it goes up to 1000 meters of the brow. Regular ascent very exposed to the sun but which from half onwards gives way to an Alpine panorama that has few equals in the Apennines.

10月 25, 2017, Vicolo delle Molini, Bedonia
Bedonia is located in Tarotal, shortly after the narrow part of the valley from the Passo del Bocco widens greatly and makes room for quite modest agriculture. From Bedonia you can leave the Tarotal either direction Bardi and Po plain or you climb in the very high Ligurian mountains around Santo Stefano d'Aveto. Or you drive along the Taro towards Parma. The main street bypasses the historic core of the town. And you miss something. Because this core is worth a coffee break. It has some bars and it is often typical Italian bustle. So it's worth taking a short turn from the main road to the Centro and taking a short break.
