Challenging climb!

The Montesegale Castle has a very ancient history, dates back to the early Middle Ages and dominates the ancient village a few kilometers from Pavia. Located on a hill, its majestic structure is clearly visible in the distance by anyone crossing the Oltrepò Pavese. A fortification with a control function, given its strategic position.

The Hermitage of Sant'Alberto di Butrio rises among the first reliefs of the Ligurian Apennines, in the Staffora valley of the Oltrepò Pavese, in the province of Pavia.

This is an 11th-century hermitage, and here (like many other works in the Staffora Valley) the first "stone" was laid by a Malaspina. The hermitage, nestled within a forest of holm oaks and beech trees, is truly a gem, with its three Romanesque churches, a beautiful bell tower, and a cloister with an ancient well.

Place of pilgrimage, well cared for. There are picnic tables and a drinking water fountain. Crossing the church you come out into the courtyard of the hermitage where you can enjoy an excellent view of the valley.
