The largest of the artificial lakes in the Val d'Ultimo. Along the lake there is the traditional sheep market which takes place after the transhumance. Fun fact: under the lake lie 12 masi (mountain houses) which were flooded during the construction of the hydroelectric plant and the simultaneous creation of the artificial lake.

The Zirmtaler See is considered one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in Vinschgau. With the rustic alpine pasture of the same name and the extraordinary hut landlord Max, the Zirmtaler See is a worthwhile excursion destination. We start from the parking lot at the Freiberger Säge and follow path no. 7 to the Marzoner Alm. There we take path no. 18 to “Schweinstall” up to the Zirmtalersee. For the descent we use path no. 18a, which leads us over the Seegrube to the Tomberger Alm and to the Altalm. We hike back to the Marzoner Alm via the alpine path. The path takes us back to the starting point of our hike.

The Laugensee is idyllically nestled between the Kleiner and Großer Laugen. If the further ascent of one of the two peaks is too strenuous for you, you have a great tour up to this point and can rest at the lake with a beautiful mountain panorama.
