Visiting the Vallezza Shipyard allows you to learn about the development of drilling techniques from the early 20th century to the 1950s, which enabled the extraction and transportation of oil at this site and more generally in Italy. The historical journey can be explored through some of the machines that document the operation of the oil exploration, drilling, and extraction systems. Initially, the "Pennsilvano" method was used, and after the 1920s, the "Rotary" drilling method, which the Italian Petroleum Company tested at Vallezza for the first time in Italy. This is a legacy of techniques and knowledge from a distant past that must not be lost. Part of it is now preserved within the workshops and open spaces of the shipyard, and part in the Gas Plus Archive. Some of the machines, carefully restored by private individuals, are privately owned. The parish church of San Biagio, also known as the parish church of Talignano, is a Catholic place of worship with Romanesque forms. The parish church was probably built at the beginning of the 12th century by the friars belonging to the now disappeared Cistercian monastery of Rocchetta, which at the time stood on a slope of the nearby Mount Prinzera, even if the first evidence of its existence dates back only to 1230; in Romanesque style, it was born as an intermediate stop for pilgrims who traveled the Via Francigena, who could find hospitality in the annexed hospice which was later destroyed. Between the 16th and 18th centuries the church was modified with the addition of Baroque and Neoclassical decorations. Between 1930 and 1940 the building was completely restored by removing the added superstructures, with the aim of returning it to its original appearance: the exterior was almost entirely recovered with the demolition of the plaster and the reconstruction of the Romanesque decorations, the part of the rectory annexed to the church was demolished and some single-lancet windows were opened in the apse.

The climb from Sala Baganza is very beautiful. The first 6 km are on asphalt, but there is no traffic and it is wooded. Then you move on to a fairly bumpy road, not stony but clayey (it could be slippery and much more technical in the wet), but never difficult. You walk along the hillside, making it panoramic. From the San Vitale side we always have a 1.5 km asphalt stretch, then turn right onto a dirt road, very quiet and easy.
