Busson Tower, also known as Morolo Castle, is an ancient ruined structure located near Rignano Flaminio, in the province of Rome, in an area of great environmental value in the Roman countryside. It is a fascinating medieval site, often shrouded in mystery, overlooking a secluded valley and offering inspiration for historical and naturalistic excursions. The tower likely dates back to the 10th century, first mentioned in a diploma of Emperor Otto III in 996, where a place called "Mauroro" is mentioned. Over the centuries, the castle passed under the control of various noble families: from the Savellis in the Middle Ages, to the Tascas (1449), Mutis (1573), Scapuccis (1591), until Marcantonio Borghese, who purchased it in 1611, along with the territory of Rignano. Reduced to a farmhouse over time, it was the subject of archaeological investigations in the 1960s, which revealed layers of medieval and Renaissance collapse, an underground cistern, brick floors with gutters (perhaps part of a residential building), and a necropolis with east-west oriented burials, dating between the late Roman period and the 5th century AD. Near the tombs, a small structure emerged, interpreted as a funerary chapel, perhaps connected to the "cella S. Stefani" mentioned in monastic documents from 996.

The Porta Romana in Campagnano di Roma is one of the historic entrances to the medieval village and a symbol of its identity. Impressive and well-preserved, it welcomes visitors with its stone structure that immediately evokes the atmosphere of the past. Crossing it means entering a town rich in history, with charming alleys and characteristic views. Today, it is also a landmark for pilgrims and travelers along the Via Francigena, who find here one of the most fascinating stops on the route to Rome.

Piazza Cavour is really small and is surrounded by many beautiful buildings with simple but elegant decorations. In the center, a medium-sized fountain in peperino. It is of the so-called "spindle" model, with a structure in the middle decorated with leaves and flowers in relief on the tip and four straws that start from the mouth of a leonine figure. It is a "copy" fountain, since it is exactly the same as the ancient one from the 13th century that is in Piazza della Morte in Viterbo, the "capital" of Tuscia. In fact, this one in Sutri was built in the 1930s by the master Alfredo Maggini. Let's say that fountains of this kind, which are also found in other centers in the area, are a bit of a "brand" of belonging to the same culture. Silent and peaceful, the square-with-fountain is ideal for a good coffee break in the nearby bar.
