The Mother of Grace Sanctuary of Mentorella is one of the oldest Marian shrines in Italy and Europe. It rises at an altitude of 1018 meters s.l.m., on a protruding cliff on the eastern side of Monte Guadagnolo which descends almost sheer on the underlying Giovenzano Valley, between Tivoli and Palestrina. It belongs to the Roman Apostolic Catholic Church (Diocese of Tivoli), and is guarded by the Congregation of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
