The Root Trail "Between the Woods" leads along narrow, sometimes damp paths through a quiet coniferous forest. Roots, small footbridges, and mossy forest edges give this section a particularly natural character.

Erbeskopf Trail Park

It's nice to sit in the shade and empty the fridge (soft drinks, beer, wine)

This is one of the three "pleasure stations" along the trail. Soft drinks, beer, and wine can be purchased from the refrigerator on a trust basis. The tower is the only one that can be climbed; the rest of the building houses the forestry office.

🏰 Dhronecken Castle – History along the way An impressive site that demonstrates just how much history lies in this region. The castle is quietly situated, a little off the beaten track, but with a clear presence. Perfect for a quick detour, a photo – or simply a moment to wonder what it was like here in the past.

As a "waymarker" and "time object," the installation "Suntime between the Forests" consists of a base stone for the night, a second large stone for the day, and numerous smaller, layered stones for the hours. By drilling holes in the large stone, the cardinal directions can be identified in relation to the position of the sun, and the shadow conveys the time of day. In the field of view, from northeast to southwest, are the Wildenburg, Hohenfels, Kirschweiler Fortress, Ringskopf, and Pfannenfelskopf. Three seating stones symbolize "Past, Present, Future" and are intended to invite visitors to linger. A time object made of 12 tons of 400-million-year-old quartzite rock was installed at the square. The "petrified" marine sediments are now mined in the Allenbach quarry of Steinwerk Allenbach GmbH & Co. KG (Wirschweiler district) and processed into stone and gravel. The sculpture is a "signpost" found in various forms throughout the world, often in distinctive or magical locations and frequently made of layered stones. Very nice remains of the castle, here is a "pleasure place" a great place to take a break

There is an airplane museum across the street. The path is good to ride with the MTB.
