We were able to try on our wetsuits for a swim in peace and quiet. Eating at the restaurant was disappointing: plenty of free seats, peak season, but they couldn't do anything for us at 7:00 PM other than provide us with some cold sandwiches to take away.

We stopped here on our hike and were unfortunately disappointed by both the accommodation (main building, in need of complete renovation!) and the restaurant (we didn't get any food because we, as hikers, arrived 30 minutes later than we had reserved)

The Watersports Centre offers a restaurant and toilets and, with its car parking, makes an excellent start/finish point for a hike - or swim, etc etc. Oh, and it is scenic of course.

Get the right conditions and the green water of this lochan is stunning

Lovely wee Loch on a fairly busy path from Glenmore Lodge to Ryovan Bothy. The track continues to Boat of Garten or Nethy Bridge, which is much quieter. Very smooth gravel from Glenmore Lodge to the lochan and a bit chunkier thereafter.

Green due to the underlying algae there’s also leeches in it.

Here is a great viewpoint of the strikingly green fairy pool called Lochan Uaine. Use the steps to access the water or simply admire it from above. It's a great dipping opportunity if you fancy a swim.

The Loch Insh Outdoor Centre offers a wide range of accommodation and multi-sport activities on site as well as a restaurant, bar and shop. Loch Insh sits in the foothills of the Cairngorm Mountains, at the lower end of Glen Feshie.
