As you pass by the shores of Lake Syndin, be sure to pause and take in the serene beauty of the water. This large, peaceful lake is a central point for hikers exploring the area, and it offers a fantastic view that extends far beyond the water's edge. From the northern shore, you can see a truly stunning panorama of the high mountain peaks of the Jotunheimen range, creating a dramatic and beautiful backdrop to the tranquil lake. It is the perfect spot for a photo or a moment of quiet reflection.

Vågå Church is a beautiful example of a Norwegian stave church, known for its unique and intricate wooden architecture. Originally built in the 12th century, the original stave church was demolished in the 17th century and replaced by the present cruciform church. It has since been expanded and modified over time, blending medieval and Renaissance styles. The church's detailed carvings make it worth a detour.

This picturesque upland lake lies just a short walk from Pellestova on the flanks of the popular Hafjell. It's reached via a good trail and boardwalks for the boggier sections.

The refurbished Pellestova Hotel, situated on the slopes of Mount Hafjell, is a superb base for hiking, skiing and cycling in the Lillehammer region. It's an accommodation option at the end of the first stage of the SignaTUR SAGA long-distance trail. It has modern facilities and 68 rooms.

Easy, duration 1 hour, beautiful country houses, wide paved road

Due to reconstruction of the dam, it is currently not possible to cycle over - probably through 2026. In the meantime, cyclists will have to use the road.

A beautiful little church, too bad it was closed and only open after 11 o'clock.
