Visible from afar, the walled church complex of St. Nicholas towers over Oltingen. St. Nicholas was first documented in 1296, and the current building dates back to the late Gothic period. During renovations in 1956, magnificent frescoes were discovered and beautifully restored. They depict, in particular, stories from the life of the church's patron saint, St. Nicholas of Myra, and the Virgin Mary. The building complex includes the rectory, also Gothic, with an adjoining, smaller ossuary dating from 1517. Adjacent to the north is the rectory barn, built in 1710.

A wonderful view near the highest point in the canton of Aargau. A comfortable bench invites you to linger. Ideal on weekdays, as it is a very popular excursion destination on weekends.

The Geissflue, the highest point in the canton of Aargau, even has a summit book for personal entries. Contrary to expectations, the path from Salhöhe is pleasantly uphill and along beautiful forest paths. Not ideal on weekends for those who like to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature.

A village straight out of a fairy tale book! A real hiking highlight on the edge of the Baselbiet region, both in spring when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom and in autumn when everything is colourful. Also worth noting is the particularly beautiful spring market in April.
