A village straight out of a fairy tale book! A real hiking highlight on the edge of the Baselbiet region, both in spring when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom and in autumn when everything is colourful. Also worth noting is the particularly beautiful spring market in April.

The well-preserved ensemble of church, rectory and parish barn on a small hill unmistakably forms the center of the village. The section of the main street in front of it is also called “Herrengasse”. The Herrengasse as such also exists in Bern, Linz and Vienna. The complex, first mentioned in a document in 1296, is interesting because the different buildings are clearly set in relation to each other in two hierarchically structured courtyards, the general rectory and the closed, slightly higher cemetery, not only fit perfectly into the village from a topographical point of view, but also harmonize with each other . Although the church has been rebuilt several times, the sacred building at the western entrance to the village and surrounded by a wall is still in the late Gothic style. The facades are made of tufa from the region. During restoration work around 1956, murals were uncovered in the interior of the church, which consists of a main aisle and a side aisle.
