The Konrad Wachsmann House was built in 1927 by the well-known Niesky timber construction company Christoph & Unmack based on a design by Konrad Wachsmann. With its modern, Bauhaus-inspired design language, it is an outstanding example of industrialized timber construction. Originally built as a home for a board member of the Christoph & Unmack company, it was purchased a few years later by the chief physician of the Niesky hospital.

The watchtower in Niesky was once intended to be a signpost for people to their homeland. The small white signs on top of its viewing platform are evidence of this: Ullersdorf, Jänkendorf, Schneekoppe, Landeskrone or Biehain are written on them.
