元々は1970年代に雑用水供給のために建設された貯水池ですが、現在は地域のレクリエーションエリアとなっています。EU認定の遊泳用水域であり、子供用の水遊び場として前池があります。さらに、夏の間はボートを借りることができます。 夏の間は2つの軽食スタンドが営業しています。

I love this dam, it brings back childhood dreams. It has changed a lot over time, at least the cool water all around has stayed the same and the dimensions have also stayed the same, around 800 m by 200 m. The best way to get to the cool water is near the dam in the small park with the information boards, which are very well done. Or you can go into the water at the rental station on the jetty. This is the opposite side of the cordoned off area near the dam, the Lohberger Villa, which has a very eventful and exciting history, among other things. Does it have anything to do with the rise of Falkenstein to the city of curtains and weavers? From the dam you can go on wonderful bike tours, towards Falkenstein, Ellefeld, Auerbach or towards Grünbach, Muldenberg or to Hammerbrücke. All bike tours are very well developed, with lots of nature.

The new exhibition space at the Falkenstein Dam was inaugurated in June 2024. The information panels offer interesting information, including on the construction and history of the Falkenstein Dam. As a special exhibit, an old DN 600 piston valve originally installed in the dam was refurbished and is now accessible to the public.
