A very beautiful and idyllic area for cycling.

Max Klinger (1857–1920) was an influential German sculptor, painter, and graphic artist whose diverse work is primarily classified as Symbolist. He was born in Leipzig and studied in Karlsruhe and Berlin, among other places, before achieving widespread acclaim for his often enigmatic and imaginative etching cycles (called Opus) and monumental works such as the famous polychrome Beethoven sculpture. Klinger, who also owned a vineyard in Großjena near Naumburg, combined a symbolic-fantastic eclecticism with a naturalistic style in his art and strove for a renewal of colored sculpture by combining various materials such as colored marble, bronze, and ivory.

At this signpost, you have to decide: Orchid Trail or Wild Horses? Both are very beautiful hiking trails, and both worthwhile. Whether you see orchids depends on the time of year; with wild horses, it's a matter of luck whether you see the Koniks.

This year, a particularly large number of orchids are blooming here in May. Nature still seems to be in good shape on the dry grassland meadows. A lot of maintenance work has been done, and more is always possible.
