A great destination for a short walk

Above-ground dimensions: Height 1.28 m, Width 1.05 m, Depth 0.24 m. The Gothic-style limestone cross, like many other crosses in the region, is called the Boniface Cross. Allegedly, the Christian missionary Winfried Boniface preached here around the year 800 when he traveled through the Eichsfeld region. The monument stands in the field ‘Am Kreuze’ (At the Cross). Zaunröden was first documented in 1378. According to H. Waldmann, it is a memorial stone for a military leader of the Thirty Years' or Seven Years' War. War (author's note) Sources: Literature: 1.
