The Zwercheck (Czech: Svaroh) is a 1,333-meter-high mountain in the Bohemian Forest (Künische Gebirge), a mountain ridge between Bavaria and Bohemia. The border between Bavaria in Germany and Bohemia in the Czech Republic runs along the ridge. On the broad, open, rounded summit are a meadow and a small rocky outcrop with a summit cross and good views across to the Großer Arber and the Kaitersberg, and down into the Lamer Winkel valley.

The Zwercheck High Trail runs along the German-Czech border, along the border ridge. The area is a capercaillie sanctuary, and it's best not to leave the trail. There are repeated, beautiful views of the Bavarian Forest mountains and the Bohemian Forest.

A little information about how the trees were sawn down here. Not really credible, as the stumps often still have bark beetle larvae under the bark...

It was formerly used for 🪵transport by opening the weir and allowing the water flow down the valley.

Always be careful, especially after rain it can lead to some "slippery" parts 😅
