The Elche reservoir is accessible from the city center. Beautiful walking paths have been created at various points along the river.

The Plaça de Baix and Elche City Hall are two of the most emblematic spots in the historic center, boasting significant historical and architectural value: Origin and evolution: An attempt was made to urbanize the area in the 16th century, but construction didn't begin until 1601. Its name has changed several times: Plaça Nova, Plaza Mayor, Plaza del Generalísimo, before reverting to its current name, Plaça de Baix. Current design: Since 2020, it has been pedestrianized, with mosaic paving inspired by Iberian ceramics. Elche City Hall Historic building: It occupies a reconstructed 15th-century palace. The oldest part is the Town Hall Tower, integrated into the medieval wall (1441), a work by Bartolomé Vidal. Guardamar Gate: The former entrance to the town, featuring stonework details and the city's coat of arms.

The large replica of the Dama de Elche in front of the palace was no longer to be found here in November 2025.

The Plaça de Baix is Elche's central square and is located directly in front of the Town Hall (Ayuntamiento de Elche). It is an important meeting place and venue for festivals and events. A striking feature is the Torre del Consell, a medieval tower dating back to the 15th century, originally part of the city walls. It served as the southern city gate and today forms the historic core of the Town Hall. The tower was converted into a Renaissance palace in the 16th century and later expanded. The Plaça de Baix connects the city's historical heritage with modern urban life.

Elche is a fascinating place to visit! Elche Palm Grove: This is the largest palm grove in Europe and one of the largest in the world, with more than 200,000 palm trees. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000. Basilica of Santa María: This impressive Baroque building is the setting for the Mystery of Elche, a sacred theatrical performance held annually in August and also declared a World Heritage Site. Elche Archaeological and History Museum (MAHE): Here you can learn about Elche's rich history, from the Iberian era to the present day. The Lady of Elche: Although the original sculpture is in the National Archaeological Museum in Madrid, you can see a replica at the MAHE. This famous Iberian sculpture dates back to the 4th century BC and is one of Spain's most iconic archaeological finds. El Hondo Natural Park: A perfect place for nature lovers and birdwatchers. This natural park offers hiking trails and a wealth of biodiversity.

Good space to train on flat ground and be able to calculate times, paces and distances

This palm forest, a World Heritage Site, boasts of being the largest of its kind in Europe, although it is believed that it must have been even larger in Arab times. This monumental complex of orchards has more than 200,000 palm trees, originally cultivated for their delicious dates.

The Vinalopó, although considered a river, often has a very low flow, especially in times of drought. However, during heavy rains, it can experience significant flooding. Throughout its course, the river has been instrumental in irrigating palm groves and other agricultural areas in Elche.
