You can walk all the way around the ramparts. We found it unique and impressive. The museum was also interesting.

Beautifully situated at Foxycamp campsite. The campsite is simple but wonderfully peaceful (we were there in early September) and run by very friendly owners. Virtually no mobile phone reception also ensures peace and quiet.

Magnificent citadel to visit absolutely!

The circuit runs in this historical place, and despite the surrounding nature very well preserved, both lines, French and German trenches, which are only a few meters apart...

Here, in this unique place, I have to take a short walk through the trenches of Bavaria and Roffignac, and follow in the footsteps of the soldiers, looking through the loopholes. Bench with table are also a place for picnics. Numerous regimental monuments and trenches for hikers, with information boards.

The Saint-Martin de Montmédy church is the church of the Saint-Martin parish in the upper town of Montmédy. The church we see today is not the first to be built on this location. Indeed, a sanctuary surrounded by a cemetery would have been present in the upper part of Montmédy as early as the 11th century. Its origins are rather vague, but historians are certain that from 1156 there was a religious building on the site of the current church2. This monument was quite small and had a single, quite slender tower. According to several old plans of Montmédy, researchers can confirm that it occupied approximately the location between the interior pillars of the current building3. In the 18th century, when Vauban strengthened the fortifications, the rear of the church was shortened to allow the widening of the adjacent rampart. The current church was built on the foundations of a more modest church that probably dates from the 12th century.

From this superb viewpoint located 400 meters above sea level, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Ornain valley, and see some curiosities such as the Varinot castle or the hunting lodge. The loop also offers picnic tables, play areas and an orientation table at the lookout. A great place to take a break from your run.

If you are looking for a scenic and easy running experience, you can try the Bois de Bohanne route via Tannois in the Meuse department of France. This 6.9 km loop route takes you along the Marne-Rhine canal and through the Bois de Bohanne, a forest with diverse flora and fauna. You will also pass by the Belvedere of Tannois, a viewpoint that offers an exceptional panorama over the Ornain valley. The trail is well marked and suitable for beginners and families.
