We cycled the entire Hochschwarzwald panoramic cycle path and rode this section from Titisee up and then down to Freiburg. We can therefore confirm that it is always uphill to the Rinkensattel rest area and then downhill from the top towards Freiburg. It was a great and fast descent. Tip: The brakes must be in perfect condition, otherwise change the brake pads for new ones beforehand.

A real classic in the southern Black Forest. Among South Baden racing cyclists, the Kande is considered one of the toughest mountains in the southern Black Forest. At least the numbers bear that out. With 12 kilometers and an average gradient of 8.2%, the ascent from Waldkirch does not need to hide at all from legendary Alpine climbs such as Alpe d'Huez and is roughly in the same league.

Great climb from Freiburg to the Schauinsland. You don't have to go up to the lookout tower to get a view of the valley. Shortly below the mountain station or at the mountain station you have a clear view down to Freiburg and to the Vosges.
