The dune rises gently above the river and opens up the view of the calm waters of the Lielupe, framed by sparse pine trees that cast their shadows on the light sand. The way there takes you through sandy paths that are a bit challenging, but the effort is definitely worth it when you finally stand at the top and can enjoy the view. As a mountain biker, you will certainly enjoy the combination of firm sand and the occasional root - a terrain that requires a little technique but is a lot of fun at the same time. The view from the top of the dune invites you to take a short breather, where you can enjoy the panoramic view of the river and the surrounding nature reserve. The early morning or late afternoon are ideal times to visit the dune. Then the light is particularly soft and conjures up an impressive play of colors and shadows across the landscape. A stop here is not only a welcome break, but also a quiet moment in nature that shows you the Latvian coastal landscape at its best.

The "White Dune of Saulkrasti" is a special natural spectacle on the Baltic coast of Latvia, which shows the transition between pine forest and sea in an impressive way. The wide, almost deserted sandy beach invites you to take relaxing walks, while the striking dunes slope gently into the sea. The contrast between the calm, bluish waves of the Baltic Sea and the light sand tones of the dune, which blend harmoniously into the coastal landscape, is particularly fascinating. A little away from the tourist hustle and bustle, you can feel the serenity of nature here - and that makes this place particularly authentic. Saulkrasti, which translates as "sunny coast", lives up to its name, especially when the sky is clear and the sun makes the sand shine in warm tones. The dune landscape is not only a place of peace, but also a small adventure for those who follow the paths through the pine forest to the coast. A visit is particularly worthwhile in the late afternoon, when the low sun bathes the landscape in a magical light.

The birdwatching tower at Slokas Lake in Ķemeri National Park is a seven-meter-high platform on pontoons, accessible via a wooden walkway. From here, you can enjoy a wide view over the entire lake, all the way to the north side, which is often particularly rich in birds. The tower offers optimal conditions for birdwatching all year round, as parts of the lake remain ice-free in winter, thus attracting many waterfowl. There is also a sulphur spring nearby, adding a touch of natural history to the experience and hinting at the park's healing mineral springs. The surrounding nature offers wet forests, swamps and small lakes, which can be reached via the 3.1-kilometer Slokas Nature Trail Loop. The trail is partly stabilized by boardwalks, especially in the marshy areas, and is ideal for nature lovers who want to explore the diverse flora and fauna. The tower and trail offer a mix of tranquil nature and fascinating observation opportunities that will immerse you deep into the Latvian landscape.
