The Powder Tower in Riga originally dates back to the 14th century and was part of the medieval city fortifications. It got its name because gunpowder was later stored there. With its thick walls and embedded cannonballs, it is an impressive example of defensive architecture. Today it houses the Latvian War Museum – admission is free. The Powder Tower is the only remaining tower of the former city wall.

St. Peter's Church in Riga is one of the oldest and most striking churches in the city. Dating back to the 13th century, it boasts impressive Gothic architecture and a 123-meter-high tower offering an observation deck overlooking Riga. The tower was destroyed several times and was recently rebuilt with a modern steel structure. Today, the church serves as a venue for services, concerts, and exhibitions and is one of the most popular attractions in the Latvian capital.
