Really difficult to ride. Super technical. I had to push a lot. There are big stones in the way. Lots of steps, some of them very steep. And loose rubble. Not really fun at the top. Much more pushing than opportunities to ride.

The Alpkogelbahn is your ticket to the Silva Trails in Galtür! The valley station is right next to "Siggi's Base", the central training area of the park. From here, the large gondolas take you - and your bike - up to 1,974 meters - where the trail fun begins! The Alpkogel Trail begins at the top, leading more than six kilometers down into the valley. It is the central "trail axis" of the trail park and offers repeated access to alternative trails, all of which lead back to the valley station. The cable car operates in summer from June to October. During this period, it also transports (bio) bikes - e-bikes, however, can only be taken without a battery. If you fancy a long day on the trail and using other cable cars in the region, the Silvretta Card Premium is a hot tip: This allows you to use the cable cars throughout Paznaun, Samnaun and Montafon/Brandnertal! The descent is technically demanding with S3 in places. Therefore only recommended for experienced riders/XC fans. Uphill is not recommended, better alternative via Klösterle to Spullersee - for XC fans uphill is also possible almost without dismounting.

We rode the Steinbock-Weg (Stebok-Wäg) in mid-July 2023 after 2 days of heavy thunderstorms. The path was completely washed out and very difficult to ride in the first third, definitely S3 and definitely not S2. We pushed almost everything on this first section. The last two thirds are then easier (mostly S1 with many S2 sections) and still reasonably rideable for normal bikers. Anyone travelling with bike luggage on an Alpine crossing (Heckmair route or similar) should consider the descent from Spullersee to Klösterle as an alternative. This alternative is S1 in the upper third with S2 sections and very easy to ride downhill. There is an official driving ban, but there is also a driving ban sign at the very beginning of the "Stebock-Wäg" ....

This S2 passage has it all. We had a lot of fun but after 47 km in the bones it wasn't easy and this trail demands maximum concentration. We had to push a few short passages because it was wet and very stubborn.
