If you go up with the Untersbergbahn, a round tour via Mittagschartensteig - Eishöhle - Toni-Lenz-Hütte - Schellenbergsattelsteig - Dopplersteig - Zeppezauerhaus and downhill by train is best, as you can climb all three climbs (from the Dopplersteig the upper worthwhile part) and saves money one of the awkward descents.
