You come from the nature reserve Koelscher Wald, a path leads between the two beautiful city ponds in the adjacent city park. Nice route.

Bottrop city ponds, located in the city garden/Köllnischer Wald. Nice to sit on a bench and watch birds. From there towards the north only forest.

The city pond was created after the French occupation in 1924/1925 The fighter of the Freikorps Löwenfeld in Bottrop in 1920, Schageter, was executed as a freedom fighter during the French occupation of 1923-1925. He was made into a national hero. The ponds in Bottrop's city park were named after him and had that name until the 1970s. The honor has a tradition in the Ruhr area.
