Pilsdon Pen山頂の三角測量地点からは、ドーセットの壮大で広々とした景色が楽しめます。南を見ると、目はMarshwood Valeの緑豊かな農地と起伏のある丘を滑り、Bridportとジュラ紀海岸のドラマチックな崖までずっと広がっています。

Beauty views high up across the coast towards dorset and devon

Have come across a few of these beacons on my travels down south. They were part of a network of beacons to be lit in case of an attack from the Spaniards in the 15th century.

The summit of this hill represents the second highest point in Dorset, and from here, you'll have breathtaking panoramic views. At the top, there was an Iron Age hillfort, which was excavated in the mid-20th century.

You would be forgiven for thinking you have stepped into the pages of a lord of the rings novel.

West Cliff rises spectacularly between West Bay and Eype Mouth above Dorset's Lyme Bay. From this cliff path, you can see the vast Thorncombe Beacon to the west and, in good, haze-free days, you can see all the way around Lyme Bay in both directions. Portland is usually very obviously to the south east. Take care while walking and stay back from the cliff edge; the landscape here reveals the constant weathering and erosion of the south coast.

Colmer's Hill is a fantastically distinctive, conical hill in the west of Dorset. It rises above the stunning Symondsbury Estate and makes for an excellent objective on a walk in the area. You can spot it both for its shape and the pine trees on its otherwise bare summit.

Colmer's Hill towers over the town of Symondsbury at a height of 417 feet. It can already be seen from afar and from its summit you have a breathtaking view over the Marshwood Vale. With a little luck you can spot rabbits, deer and buzzards.
