On the way from the Watschiger Alm to the Kammleiten, the path crosses a rock that is unique to this area just before the summit. It consists of colorful, decimeter-sized rounded boulders made of lime and dolomite. The rock is called “Muschelkalk conglomerate” or Uggowitz breccia and was formed in the older Triassic period (around 230 million years ago). The 44 m thick rock builds up the entire summit of the Kammleiten, only in the lower part is a four meter thick layer of green volcanic tuffs interspersed with it.
