絶対に訪れるべき素晴らしい自然保護区。

メース近郊の印象的なリヴィエールパーク・マースヴァレーを発見してください。マース川がその広大な空間を活かせるユニークな自然保護区です。 自然開発、古い川筋、砂利の池、広大な氾濫原を通じて、散策、サイクリング、静寂を楽しむための十分なスペースを備えた美しい景観が生まれました。 メース周辺の地域は、人間と川が何世紀にもわたってどのように結びついてきたかを美しく示しています。マース川沿いには、特別な景色、草を食むギャロウェイ牛、そして豊かな種類の植物や動物が見られます。リンブルフの河川景観の力強さと美しさを体験するために、少し立ち止まるのに理想的な場所です。

アルベール運河とマース川の間、ティエール・デ・カスターとモンターニュ・サン・ピエール遺跡の麓に位置するこの場所は、ユニークな自然空間を形成しています。この地域には、石灰岩の草原、ラン、コウモリで満たされた洞窟、湿地帯など、注目すべき自然遺産が隠されています。

The Castle Cave is a unique place where history, architecture, and nature converge. Often located near or beneath a castle, such as in South Limburg or other historic regions, a castle cave served various purposes: from storing wine or provisions to sheltering or serving as a decorative garden feature within the castle grounds' landscaping. The cave is usually situated in a wooded area or on a slope, where natural rock formations and limestone structures create an impressive backdrop. Winding paths, hills, and viewpoints often surround the cave, making it a haven for hikers and a haven of discovery.

Nature, birds, a bit wild.

Nice route, very nice coffee and cake at the restaurant. However, the last part of the walk was not pleasant, the walking path was almost overgrown with nettles.

Bird observation point

Here you can see the central part (the lake) of the nature reserve from above. The Lanaye spawning grounds were created at the end of the 1980s to compensate for the disappearance of the Petit-Gravier spawning grounds during an extension of the lock complex. A new hiking trail was also constructed here at the beginning of 2024, where sustainable tourism and nature conservation should go hand in hand. As far as I'm concerned, it's already a success.
