Less than 5 minutes from Meissen's city center, you'll find absolute peace and quiet here. Especially in summer, it's pleasantly cool here—which helps on the climb to Proschwitz Castle.

Highly recommended. It rolls great here, and the eyes also get to see something beautiful.

A rustic reason to get to the Elbe or uphill to Proschwitz Castle.

Going downhill here seems to roll by itself. There are a few potholes in places, but otherwise the road quality is good or very good, and traffic is also limited.

Between Wahnitz and Mertitz.

The short, deeply cut valley has always been called this. It runs through the area from Proschwitz in the direction of Zscheila to Fürstengraben. The name Heiliger Grund goes back to a legend about Benno (Bishop of Meissen), who was associated with the valley. Bishop Benno is said to have often preached in the valley and also stayed there often. Once, when the people who had gathered around him became thirsty, Bishop Benno is said to have struck a rock with his bishop's staff, whereupon a spring sprung up at this point. Beautiful ride through the Ketzerbachtal, although the asphalt is mostly quite rough, it still rolls well through an idyllic, deeply indented valley with floodplain meadows.

Easy to drive in either direction. But I usually ride downhill on the way back to Dresden on a rather easy tour. Entry into the Triebischtal is possible in many places. In Meissen I continue along the Triebisch behind the porcelain factory.
