A beautiful bench in a historic location. "In 2009, a cross-section of the so-called 'middle wall' was created at this point, which divides the Celtic fortification into the 'eastern wall' and the 'western wall'. The middle wall [NOT to be confused with the intermediate wall!] runs from north to south and formed the western outer wall of the densely populated eastern wall. On the inside, as everywhere on the city wall, there is a wall made of earth and stones. The cross-section shows 2 wall phases: on the right, the first wall, still preserved up to 1.50 m high, with a clearly visible front shell, and to the left of it the worse-preserved 2nd wall front. Both are built without mortar from rhyolite stones. The 2nd wall was apparently built when the 1st fortification became unstable. The Celtic builders filled the space between the two wall fronts with quarry stone material."
