Serpentine path to the watchtower.

The interior of the church is truly worth seeing. The "Mozart Organ" is particularly noteworthy. In 1745, Johann Michael Stumm built his largest organ for the castle church, with 36 stops on three manuals and a pedal. In 1748, he added a carillon. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart played the instrument while passing through in 1778.

The boar, which also appears in the town's coat of arms, commemorates the Counts of Eberstein, former lords of Stauf Castle, who temporarily ruled Kirchheimbolanden. The sculpture of the seated boar was designed by Martin Mayer, and the original is located in front of the German Hunting Museum in Munich.

A beautiful green area ideal for a short stroll.

The red tower is a beautiful eye-catcher and an important part of the still well-preserved city wall. It's a good thing it didn't fall victim to road construction 100 years ago.

The castle is now a retirement home. It's a very well-maintained property.

Quite confusing: There are TWO Protestant churches here, just a few meters apart. (Further down in the town center is the Protestant Paulskirche with Mozart organ.) "The Peterskirche is a reflection of the history of the denomination since the Middle Ages. Catholic until the Reformation, it became Lutheran in the middle of the 16th century, reformed (Calvinist) with the construction of the Paulskirche, the new Lutheran church, and united as a result of the unification of the two Protestant denominations in 1817/18. In today's church space, this development in the history of the denomination is no longer immediately visible."
