The Protestant St. Wulphardi Church is located in the middle of the town at the highest point of the Wurt. The church was built according to plans by the Stade architect Ernst Heinrich Blohm in 1837/1838 on the site of a smaller, Romanesque basilica that had been badly damaged by a powerful flood in 1825. After being damaged by lightning, the ceiling of the late-classical building was painted in Art Nouveau style between 1916 and 1919 by the Hanoverian church painter Reiner Ebeling. The rather simple, brick hall church has a tiled gable roof with a strong, slated ridge turret. The flat facades are structured by fine cornices on the base and on the eaves. Two portals on the west and east gables open up the symmetrically formed building. The interior is illuminated by large round-arch windows with brick surrounds.
