The shelter is still standing (as of November 25th) and is in good condition. Right next to it is a bathing area with a large meadow and a magnificent view across the lake to the castle.

The terraces offer a beautiful view over the lake. In the evening you can see the sunsets on the opposite shore.

Lake Bordesholm is a popular local recreation area. A well-maintained path, around 7 km long, runs mostly along the shore of the 70 hectare lake and is ideal for walking, jogging or cycling. On the west bank is the huge monastery church, which is reminiscent of the former Bordesholm monastery.

If you don't know what the abbreviation "FFH" in the highlight name means: It is a "Flora-Fauna-Habitat area", named after a Europe-wide EU law for nature and landscape protection from 1992. It is officially called "Directive 92/43/EEC on the conservation of natural habitats and of wild fauna and flora", which adequately describes its meaning and purpose. In order to be designated as such an FFH area, special requirements must be met so that plants (flora) and animals (fauna) can be protected in this habitat. In Germany alone, there are already more than four and a half thousand FFH areas.

The pier can also be used as a swimming area. Always open Wed-Sun from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. (depending on weather conditions and number of visitors)
