Nice trail, but not recommended for bikes with trailers!

Beautiful nature for cycling and hiking. Be considerate of pedestrians, it is quite narrow in places.

Tip: Attention, the barbecue area and the little house are not for free use - you can rent them.

Nice clean swimming area with a small sandy beach. There are bench seats and the parking lot is right next door.

At the end of the 8th century AD, the Viking settlement »Haithabu« was established at the crossroads of the early medieval trade routes. The name, in Old Norse »heidabyr«, means »settlement on the heath«. By the end of the 10th century, the town had developed into the largest and most important Hardels town of the Viking Age. At the same time, the Christianization of Scandinavia began from Haithabu. The word »Viking« is probably derived from the word »wik« (bay). The center of the settlement was in the estuary of the small stream within the mighty semicircular wall. After the destruction of Haithabu in 1066 AD, the city of Schleswig was founded on the north bank of the Schlei.
