The Elsterfloßgraben (Elster Log Flume) was built between 1578 and 1580 to supply the saltworks in Poserna, Teudlitz, and Kötzschau, and even Halle, with timber. The water intake from the White Elster River is near Crossen, located between Gera and Zeitz.
