At 76.8 meters, the Boxberg is not the highest elevation in the Aukrug Nature Park, but it is one of the few moraine peaks in central Holstein that deserves the name "mountain." The Itzespitze, at 83.4 meters, is even higher than the Boxberg. Today, only a few beech trees grow on the grounds of the Boxberg recreational forest. According to the classification of Germany's main natural units, the municipality of Sarlhusen extends within the Heide-Itzehoe Geest region on the edge of the Aukrug Nature Park. The Stör, Wegebek, Glasbek, and Bünzau rivers flow through the municipality. The Glasberg rises to a height of 64 meters above sea level in the northern part of the municipality, and another hill, the Kuhberg, on the edge of the eponymous village, reaches 44 meters. The detour to Boxberg is a must, because at 78 meters it is one of the highest peaks in Schleswig-Holstein. And it's worth it, because the view from up here is wonderful. At the foot of the mountain you can let yourself be pampered after your exertion in the large and beautiful beer garden of the café "Am Boxberg".
