As I said, you simply have to stop here. There are plenty of benches to sit on, and you can also take some great pictures here.

You can hike along here very relaxed, but you should expect mosquitoes in summer and be prepared accordingly.

The Springhoe estate in the municipality of Lockstedt is now a stud farm. You can walk past the beautiful clock tower and admire the manor house from the park-like grounds.

There used to be a water mill on the mill pond at Springhoe Estate. In 1899 the farm buildings and the mill burned down, and in 1902 the buildings were rebuilt with the exception of the mill. The mill pond was later used for carp farming.

There used to be a water mill there, which was first mentioned in a document in 1148. It soon came into the possession of Itzehoe Abbey, and for the villages of Overndorf and Grönhude, which were also owned by the abbey - today districts of Kellinghusen - there was a mill obligation to Springhoe. This also applied to the monastic subjects in the Aukrug villages, who were not allowed to use the royal Bünzer water mill.

One of the loveliest hiking routes in the Aukrug Nature Park is without a doubt a long walk from the Boxberg via forest huts along the ponds. The circuit combines a route over the Boxberg with the signposted hiking trail 17. You can expect an eventful hike through lively nature, sights, history and magnificent views. The rest forest begins directly after walking between the ponds. Right at the beginning there is a small place of worship where you can rest on several benches. A sign asks you to only walk (i.e. do not push or ride bicycles). If you walk along the paths there you will pass several other, but smaller places of worship. I can only warmly recommend stopping by here.

Was collecting mushrooms, the pond landscape is pure nature. Will go again in the morning when the fog rises. We have such beautiful nature right on our doorstep.
