Lake Fockbek flows into the Eider River via the Mühlenbach stream. The bridge here is constructed on wooden planks and is suitable for cars up to 3 tons.

Beautifully landscaped bathing area, ideal for cooling off in summer

Northeast of the city of Rendsburg in Borgstedt, near the Rader Hochbrücke, is the bathing area with a fantastic view on the Borgstedter Enge. In addition to a playground, there is a small hut, plenty of seating, an outdoor shower and toilets. A beautiful jetty leads into the water and outdoor fitness equipment invites you to really let off steam. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed...

The Rendsburger Stadtsee is a lake about three and a half hectares in size and up to one and a half meters deep. It was created during the construction of the Kiel Canal in 1893. You can relax wonderfully at the lake and watch various water birds.

If you hike through the Owschlager Moor on the Jungfernstieg, you will quickly see that this is predominantly a valuable heather moor that emerged from a largely drained raised moor. As part of the "Schleswiger Vorgeest", the moor lies on the southern edge of a large, intensively used sandy area. The entire moor is covered by silting up peat patches. Raised bogs are extreme habitats in which only a few animals and plants can exist. That's why most of the animal and plant species in the raised moor are on the "Red List" of endangered plants and animals. The reasons for the disappearance or decline of many raised moor specialists lie in the drainage measures (peat extraction, conversion into agricultural land), as a result of which the originally much larger Owschlager Moor has shrunk to the current remaining area of approx. 86 hectares.
