The most famous Upper Palatinate mountain festival takes place here on the Mariahilfberg in early July. This is followed by the Anna Bergfest in Sulzbach-Rosenberg at the end of July and the Frohnbergfest near Hahnbach in mid-August. Other mountain festivals and pilgrimage churches can be found in Gebenbach and on the Mausberg between Hahnbach and Vilseck. Pilgrimages have a long tradition in the Upper Palatinate. In addition to church services, the mountain festivals also offer traditional barbecue/bratwurst stands, beer sales, lottery stalls, and much more. The Maria Hilf Church is very magnificent, without appearing overly elaborate like many Rocko-style churches. The sanctuary, in particular, is adorned with gold. From the hospital, the steep Stations of the Cross lead up to the chapel below the church. The paths through the forest are also beautiful and, in some cases, not as steep as the direct route along the Stations of the Cross.

The largest mountain pilgrimage in the Upper Palatinate was created during the plague in 1634. The tower of the former castle on the Ammenberg was converted into a chapel, and immediately afterwards the town built a round chapel based on the model of the chapel on the Lechfeld. The current pilgrimage church on the Mariahilfberg was built in 1697 to plans by Wolfgang Dientzenhofer in place of the previous church that burned down in 1646. Due to the War of the Spanish Succession, construction could not be completed until 1711.
