The Humpback Rocks Trail begins at the south end of the Humpback Gap. About a half-mile up the blue-blazed trail, hikers can take a spur trail on the left to reach Humpback Rocks, enjoying a strenuous 700-foot climb that rewards with stunning views of the Rockfish and Shenandoah Valleys. Continuing straight at the fork, hikers can reach the summit of Humpback Mountain for more great views. The trail is marked with blue blazes and sometimes white when part of the Appalachian Trail.

At 2,981 feet, Turk Mountain offers a stunning panoramic view of the area. The final stretch to the summit is rocky and might require a bit of walking, but the views make the challenge worthwhile.

The Appalachian Trail stretches over 2,000 miles and stands as one of the most iconic trails in the United States. This section leads you to the Calf Mountain summit, where you'll enjoy views of the radio towers on Bear Den Mountain across Skyline Drive. While the trail continues for miles, this area offers the best views.

Turk Mountain is a summit with easy access close to Crimora; the hike to the peak is short but enjoyable. Though not a very high summit, it has an expansive 360 degree view of the surroundings from the top. Bald Mountain is a 3250 ft high grassy peak with views of Saint’s Mary Wilderness. The bald is reached after 4.5 km of hiking and is a great place to rest and appreciate the expansive views. This is one of the best overlooks in the vicinity due to its wonderful views, so enjoy it! This bald is also not the most popular one in GWNF, so you might find some quietness there.

Elliott Knob is a challenging summit in the Appalachian Mountains, it is the highest peak in Augusta County and one of the highest in Virginia, sitting at 4,463 ft. The summit is covered by grass and it has a fire tower with amazing panoramic views of George Washington National Forest. The trail to the summit passes by some small waterfalls and goes to a fire road that is quite steep. Be aware of snakes.

A challenging trail that runs along a path through the woods, reaches the scenic summit of Chemney Rock and descends to the foothills of Devis Mountain.
