The climb to the cave is easy and offers a magnificent view of the bay and the coastal landscape. Those wishing to continue up to the fortress ruins face a well-secured but nonetheless challenging, strenuous, and steep ascent. Komoot's "easy" rating is therefore misleading.

The path to the cave from Voidokilia beach (up and down) definitely requires surefootedness. It is best to wear hiking boots. Some passages are secured with a rope. But the climb is definitely worth it. (No matter which side you come from)

From around 11 a.m., life returns to the village. Then the astonishing number of restaurants open and invite you to stop by.

Very interesting village. You can see that the houses are being rebuilt in some places. Now in May there is an incredibly diverse array of natural flowers to admire.

The first written records of Perithia date back to the 14th century. However, it is assumed that Perithia was inhabited for much longer. In its heyday, Perithia was one of the wealthiest places on the island and had up to 1,200 inhabitants. There were around 130 houses and eight churches. The location of the town at around 450 meters originally offered protection from pirate attacks and the malaria that was rampant on the coast at the time. Livestock farming was an important industry, other agriculture was mainly only possible in fields in the lower coastal region. In the 19th century, there were hardly any pirate attacks and more and more people spent the winter on the coast and only the malaria-prone summer months in Palea Peritheia. The town was gradually abandoned in the 1960s after the risk of malaria on the Greek islands had been averted and tourism provided jobs on the coast. Source: Wikipedia
