The archaeological site is located on the highest point of the Lange Berg (Long Mountain), which takes its name, Höhe Burg (Castle Hill), from the fortified settlement. Based on the style of the fortification, it is an Old Slavic refuge castle dating from the 7th to 9th centuries. It was only during this period that the Slavs built castles on hilltops. (Wikipedia)

On the signposted "Gerhard-Schulze-Weg" educational trail near Graupenmühle, you will learn a lot about the Sternberger Seenland and its nature and will be guided along the small circular path through the wild and romantic Radebachtal. On this circular route you will also meet a very well-known pilgrimage route: The "Via Baltica"; also known as the "Way of St. James".
