Ascent to the Hochstein. Initially a leisurely path, the final section becomes arduous and strenuous.

A lovely little rest hut has been built on the northwestern edge of Kötzschau Mountain. In front of it is a bench and table, making it an excellent place to rest, especially when there's a southerly wind. From here, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the northern mountain range, with the Czorneboh to the west and the Hochstein directly opposite.

A prehistoric rampart surrounds the cliffs, which are up to 10 m high. In 1841, Karl Benjamin Preusker suspected a pagan sacrificial site in the ramparts. [2] Archaeological investigations around 1900 revealed a Slavic or medieval use. The question of the function of the system could not be clarified. [3] Around 1350, the rocks are said to have served as a hiding place for a band of robbers, which is why the place was also called a robbery castle on old maps and is still called that in Sorbian today. Historical Hertwicus von Desen, mentioned in 1242, was known as the first landlord, while Kleindehsa was known as a knight's seat in the 14th century. Apparently there was already a moated castle at that time, to which the Kleindehsa manor went back. The von Nostitz family owned the Kleindehsa manor in the 16th and 17th centuries. In 1710 the manor was acquired by Carl Gottlob von Ponickau. He sold the manor in 1736 to Wolf Rudolph von Ziegler and Klipphausen, who in turn sold it to his wife Friedericke Juliane von Ziegler and Klipphausen in 1743 due to financial difficulties. Four years later, this initiated the construction of the castle in place of the previously existing moated castle. In 1769 the manor was auctioned. Dietrich von Carlowitz acquired the Kleindehsa manor in 1894. After his death, it was inherited by his wife Elisabeth von Carlowitz, who had renovations carried out from 1909 to 1910. Their daughter Sophie Margarete married Hans von Zimmermann, who died in the war in 1916. In her second marriage she married Hans von Tschammer und Osten, who joined the NSDAP and made a career as Reich Sports Commissioner. He was one of the organizers of the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin and died two years before the end of the war. After 1945 The widow Sophie Margarethe von Taschmmer und Osten was expropriated in 1945. The manor was divided as part of the land reform. The castle was initially used as a district training facility for the SED. From 1963 Kleindehsa Castle served as a school. Post-turnaround time In 1992 the primary school moved into the castle. The community initiated an extensive renovation of the building. Todays use Kleindehsa Castle is still used as a primary school and after-school care center. Soil monument protection The former moated castle has been completely overbuilt by the manor house. The remains of the trench were also filled in. The castle grounds were first placed under protection as a ground monument in 1936 and again in 1958. Source: https://sachsens-schloesser.de/
