This is where the conveyor technology, compressors, and power plants that kept the mine running stood. Today, only fragments of walls and foundations remain visible – a quiet place with a wealth of history buried beneath the ground. Tip: The square is particularly impressive when the sun is low in the sky – contours, brick remains, and old structures become clearly visible again. Please be respectful and stay on the paths.

🏚️ Ruins of the Fortuna Shaft – Silent Witnesses to the Mining Era Dilapidated remains of walls, overgrown foundations, and rusty metal fragments bear witness to the former activity around the Fortuna Shaft – an outlying site of the Nordfeld mine. Today, the site is abandoned but fascinating for anyone interested in industrial culture and regional history. Tip: Pay attention to details in the terrain – some structures such as shafts, canals, or parking areas can still be clearly seen with a little imagination.

Tilemann-Stella-Platz is a historic landmark along a varied cycling route around Bexbach. Named after the cartographer Tilemann Stella, information panels on site provide information about his surveying work in the 16th century.

From these benches, about 50 m off the path across a meadow on the Lichtenkopf, you can enjoy a wonderful view.

At the viewing point there are two benches and an information board that provides information about the village of Höchen and the surrounding villages.

The Naturfreundehaus Steinberghütte in Oberbexbach is a popular destination in Saarland. It is located in the forest area near the town of Bexbach and is an ideal starting point for hikes, bike tours and trips into nature.
