Shortly after the turn of the millennium, the time had come. A new market fountain with bronze figures was created and erected between the town hall and the Mohrenapotheke, one of Saxony's oldest pharmacies. Following a competition in 1999, the design "Fools and Musicians" by Glauchau artist Erika Harbort was selected. The larger-than-life figure of Claus Narr, the court jester of Torgau, forms the centerpiece of the fountain. The gardens below the castle have a rich history dating back to the 16th century. Originally it served as a flower, spice and herb garden, an important part of the castle that served the needs of the residents of the time. A change in the 18th century: 200 years later, the garden underwent a transformation. It was now designed as a rose, tournament and paradise garden, which significantly changed the aesthetics and purpose of the garden. This transformation reflected the changing tastes and needs of the time. The current form: During the restoration of the castle in 2001/2002, the gardens took on their current form. This includes seating areas, fountains, a water bowl in the terrace area and a pavilion. These elements create an idyllic atmosphere that invites visitors to linger and underlines the beauty of the garden.
