The Church of St. Anthony in Engelsbrand was built in 1486 on the site of a previously existing pilgrimage chapel. In 1863, the ancient St. Anthony's Chapel and the old nave were demolished, and a new nave was built to its current dimensions.

From 1487 onwards, the dead are probably buried in the local "churchyard". Engelsbrand still belongs to the Langenbrand parish.
