The memorial by Ettlingen sculptor Volker Erhard, also known as Voré, was erected in 1969 by order of the municipality of Ruit to commemorate the victims of the wars. Unfortunately, the memorial has been increasingly vandalized in recent years, so that it is now secured by a construction fence.

I highly recommend the Krabbenschänke. The food was very good there.

The path and the tunnel are now impassable. Completely overgrown. Branches and tree trunks also lie across the path. Once you've made it through the tunnel without falling, the path is only accessible at your own risk. So turning back? That's not really an option. Strangely, the path is closed from the other side. More common sense would have been helpful here.

Beautiful zoo. The special thing here is that most of the animals roam freely. You can pet and feed them.
