Waldenburg Castle sits majestically high above the Hohenlohe Plain, its walls, towers, and overall complex dominating the townscape. From the terraces and walls surrounding the castle, sweeping views of the landscape unfold – an impressive blend of history, architecture, and panorama, and one of the highlights of any tour around Waldenburg.

This viewpoint truly lives up to its name: like looking out from a balcony, you can see far across the Hohenlohe Plain with its fields, forests, and rolling hills. It's the perfect spot for a short break, a photo, and a moment to catch your breath before continuing your hike.

Inconspicuous by the wayside, yet significant: This historic boundary stone on the donkey trail marks a former district or manorial boundary. On the ascent from the vineyards into the forest, it offers an atmospheric rest stop and a silent witness to centuries past.

A narrow, sometimes steep path leads from the vineyards near Michelbach am Wald up into the forest. 🥾 The donkey trail is beautifully muddy when wet, making it particularly challenging – good shoes are a must. Along the way, there are frequent panoramic views across the Hohenlohe Plain before the path disappears into the tranquil forest.

A very beautiful chapel. We were there on Whit Monday. It was open then and we could even take a guided tour. Otherwise, we've never had access.

Interesting story, but very slippery when wet.

Unfortunately, it's not always open. It was pure chance that a visit was possible. Apparently, it's always open on Whit Monday, and guided tours are offered then.

The former train station is located almost at the monastery and opposite the monastery garden.
