At approximately 12 hectares, this lake is larger than you might initially think. Many visitors don't realize that it's especially popular with anglers. Carp, pike, and whitefish: you'll find it all. Furthermore, it's nestled in a wooded area, giving you the feeling of being truly "away" from civilization. Ideal for a peaceful stroll.

This lake is larger than you'd expect and has that raw edge that many French lakes lack. No neatly raked edges, but stretches of shore where the water flows freely. Fun fact: in some places, you can still see the old engineering structures that were needed to regulate the water level. An interesting detail: the lake was originally constructed as a water reservoir for the valley, but over the years it has become a favorite spot for birds. In the early morning, you often see herons gliding low over the water and hear the first ducks chattering before you've even finished your coffee.

Small, simple, perfect. This wooden lookout hut sits on stilts at the edge of the lake. No luxury, no frills, but exactly what you need: a dry spot, a view over the water, and the tranquility of the lake surrounding you. Ideal for sheltering, taking a break, or birdwatching. And honestly... there's just something cozy about a hut like this, surrounded by greenery.

An unexpected mascot along the path. In the middle of the field, this tree suddenly appears, complete with a face: big eyes, a yellow beak, and three stripes for a mouth. It's not an art project, but it certainly brings a smile to the walkers' faces.

At the lake's edge, you'll find this spillway: a row of half-arches through which the water plunges in one go once the lake is full. No ornamentation, no romance, just raw water power. A nice moment to pause for a moment.

Appointed parish priest of Châteauneuf-sur-Cher in 1861, Abbé Ducros discovered a ruined church. To rebuild it, he decides to subscribe, asking "two pennies" from each child in exchange for which he promises to pray for him the Virgin Mary. In return, he received many "two cents," but also many letters, including one written by a ten-year-old girl, a Semur-en-Brionnais resident.

The first castle was built in the eleventh century to control the Cher valley. Until the sixteenth century, it belonged to large feudatories, the Déols-Châteauroux and the Culan (t) . The Culan (t) 2 have held Châteauneuf and St-Désiré since at least - Renoul II, 'Ap. 1253: first in their elder branch up to - Aénor/Eléonore, lady of Culan, in 1420 without any posterity of her two marriages.

Château built during the Renaissance which belonged in particular to Colbert, the financial controller of Louis XIV. In 2001, it was divided into 60 apartments by a real estate developer but work stopped due to lack of payment in 2006. In 2015, it was bought lot by lot by the current owners who have since tried to restore it. The building has been listed as a historic monument since 1926.
